Last nights game was not the game that saw the Isles score 3 goals (we get 3 as a result of the shootout win, but…); however, it is 2 points in the win column, which was just what the doctor ordered.
In the case of this team, the doctor needs to return and supply a booster shot.
Doc - be at the Garden this afternoon.
I am so glad that we finally beat Ottawa. They just give the Isles fits; from the first game they beat us in their first season, up to the 8 game streak they had until last night, Ottawa just have our number. But finally, the boys came through in a cracking match.
It was a case of two goaltenders with great efforts, especially the one in blue. However, his wandering antics will kill us someday, and he almost did last night.
My buddy Joe scored again last night - now leading the team with 9 tallies. I bet that Jim Rutherford is asking himself, “Why did I let him go???” Sorry Dawn, he is OURS now, and we are not letting him go. Of course, he scores in the last minute of the period, as I am off to the Booster Club table, so I only saw it on the tube.
I have to say that Marc-Andre Bergeron has played better of late. He is not making the stupid mistakes that gave him a 5 game stay in Chateau de-Bow Wow! Now, Bryan Berard has a seat, or does he? Some people said that he got hurt. I have not heard any comment to the contrary.
Good to see Billy G get a goal in the shootout. Even if it does not come to the actual goal column, it has to be a confidence booster, especially when the Isles needed the tally to stay alive. Silly did a great job, just basically coming to Emery and telling him, stop this!
He (Emery) of course, did not!
Now - the attention returns to the hated men from Manhattan.
Sean (I think I am the guy from Right Said Fred that thinks he is too sexy for himself) Avery is out having surgery on his messed up wrist. Some people are scuttlebutting that he did it in a fight with Tucker. Some are saying that he hurt it trying to do a routine of physical exertion to relieve himself…. (Trying to keep it PG rated - you figure it out…). Bottom line - he’s out for a few weeks.
Thank god we will be done with these guys until March. I need the rest. Just like the other games - the Isles have to keep Jagr in check, and especially to the outside. Bang and Bang with these guys. Use the physicality that has helped them win the first three meetings so far. Plus, PLEASE SCORE MORE THAN TWO TONIGHT!!!!
This could be the night that the Isles suffer a Ranger letdown. However, they have always seem to rise to the challenge, when they see the RANGERS name slanted on the uniform of the opponent. Tonght, I believe, will be no exception. And Isles fans, if we win tonight, please make sure that you provide a shoulder of comfort for your Ranger fan friends. They may just start showing signs of psychological meltdown.
Hopefully a happy recap tomorrow.

One down, one to go. It wasn’t “pretty”, but it was still a great effort. Man, I think Ted needs to run a series of drills that focus on the guys Hitting the Dang Net. And, yes, Ricky needs to have a leash tied to the goal …

Hey Gary,
No update? Cat got you tongue? Or maybe you are embarrassed by this:

More lame whining by Martinek and your fearless leader, Teddy.
Do they Want a little cheese with that whine? Pathetic.
Guess McGeough couldn’t hand the Fish two games in a row, eh?
Oh, nice to see Orr take down dirt bag Simon with his fists. Rangers don’t need to “Two Hand” opponents.

Margaret,
Just the typical OBNOXIOUS response that I expected. I did not update until 925 AM - because I was doing something called WORK.
I have no problem with the result - the Rangers were the better team, and deserved the win. I can be respectful and comment on it as such. Something that a lot of Ranger fans just can not seem to be capable of doing. I will leave it at that.
And by the way - Simon went down when the stick that was on the ice got caught in his skates. Give me a break… And dont get me started on the puke Hollweg. My parents always told me growing up, that if you did not have a nice thing to say, don’t say anything. In this case, I will keep my thoughts to myself.

Oh and your guys do NOTHING wrong….???
I try to take the high road, but I end up going to lower levels, because of the absolute obnoxious drivel I hear….
It is absolutely amazing, that in just about every other city I have been to for games (been to 26 out of the 30 teams), I always hear that the Rangers have the most whining and complaining team, and the fans are just as bad if not worse.
All I can say now is thank God we get 4 months off from this….

whoa..the grabbing at martinek’s stiches was “invented”???? You must not have watched the game because it was clear as day on the HDTV…almost as clear and obvious as seeing not a single punch land in the Orr/Simon “fight”.
And let’s keep it real for a moment Holleweg is one of the dirtiest players in the game…I’d love to compile the footage of his long history of boarding guys (among other things).
Go ahead and gloat…your overpaid, talent-stocked superstar-laden team managed to beat the lowly underdog Isles squad a mere once in four games this season.

Gary,
Ask yourself why everytime your team plays my team, your team invents some hissy fit, some BS drama from the Ice Sluts and now Martinek whining, it’s always something?
Why don’t you hold a mirror up to you own writing. I don’t lead off my blog entries by calling out Islander players as “Dirt Bags”.
My mother told me that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw Puck!
