An old friend returns…
Yes - there were times that I got ‘ticked’ at him, when he tried to do everything and played the role of puck hog with such skill and ease. However, that is part of the nature of Blakey; a player that no expert ever thought would have the type of career that he has had.
No one, and I mean NO ONE, can question his energy, and enthusiasm of the game. He gives it all, just about every shift. He has had so many consecutive career years, that basically got Blake his record contract. Unfortunately, for fans of the Buds, Blake’s numbers have not come up to snuff.
Is it the cancer? Dont think so…
Is it the pressure of the big contract and the media frenzy in T.O.? Might be.
However, as fans, we should take a moment, and appreciate what he meant to the Islander franchise over the previous six years. He helped put credibility back to the Islanders, and we are in debt to him for that.
Let’s appreciate that, and then focus on winning the game. I will still be a Blake fan (except when he is the opponent)…
Thanks Jason!

Without a doubt, Jason Blake did a great deal for the Islanders as a team and an organization. I have no hard feelings towards him at all, and I surely wish him well and success. As long as that success doesn’t show tonight, however … *grin* We have a tough three games in four night run here, so let’s hope we pick up two more points tonight.

Great player, gave it all… don’t understand why the islanders feel the need to reward him with a video tribute like it says on the website. Forget the past (players leaving us for more money) and build on the present.
Happy Holidays

Gary, “here I come to save the day”…..one of my favorite lines you would say when he got the puck….
